News:

How can one compare John Tchicai's music with Jackson Pollock's paintings? Read it in Jackson Griffith's article in the Sacramento SN&R.

This year saw three new John Tchicai CD-releases so far, as well as one re-release on CD...:

.. a new CD "Letter from America" was released of John Tchicai as a guest with the Paul Hemmings Trio. It was presented in 2 concerts in Feb.'08 in the Big Apple, and is available as LTR 07-003. It received good critiques.

...still newer, the CD "Coltrane in Spring", with Tchicai on tenor and vocal, Jonas Müller on cornet and piano, Nikolaj Munch-Hansen on bass and Kresten Osgood on drums, has just come off the presses and is available at ilkmusic.com/krestenosgood.dk. It contains a text by John Stewart and compositions by the band members as well as by Don Pullen and others.

.. brand new CD: "No Trespassing", "free jazz meets heavy metal (and pasta)", the result of a meeting in Italy between John, Bruno Marini (baritone sax) and Cristina Mazza (alto sax) and hard rock trio Ice 9. Available using PayPal through myspace. Please trespass there.

The re-release on CD concerns nothing less than collector's item "AFRODISIACA", the famous 1969 album of John Tchicai, Hugh Steinmetz and 25 other musicians among whom are Willem Breuker and Pierre Dorge. This CD is available at most online cd sale-sites, even at target.com and on iTunes.

Sheetmusic of several of Tchicai's compositions can be ordered online via Sheetmusicnow.com.
